Journal Entry: God Bless Kim

Kim and ISeveral days ago, we packed up, and got on an airplane to start our new venture.  Our plans were to pick up my car in Oakland, and allow my son to experience his very first road trip, by driving cross-country.  The morning we arrived in Oakland, my Aunt was supposed to pick us up at the airport.  We arrived at 0915.

DAY1
0900 I received a message from Kim that she was going to run to her storage to move a couch, and will be there to pick us up as soon as she was done.

GOD Moments: Am I an Angel?

Very often I have God moments.  A God moment is when I'll think about something, or ask God a question, and he DIRECTLY responds to me. (Click here for a full God Moment Definition)  Non-believers will question me, but it does happen to me.

As I open my car door this morning, I see a plastic bag full of coins from the day we had our garage sale. It must've been @least $25-30 in quarters. (I'm only estimating, but it was a lot of quarters).

I jump in the drivers seat, and have a conversation with myself. The conversation went exactly like this. (YES! I have conversations with myself all the time! Especially in the car.)

*conversing with my thoughts
"What am I going to do with that bag of money? I don't have enough time today to stop and change it out."

Are Goodbyes a Permanent Thing?

I realized that the reason I work non-stop is to keep my mind occupied. Today I decided to actually sit down and take some time to myself. 'Relax'

For those that know me, you all know this is a rare thing. Turns out.... I get philosophical, and think too much when I'm idle. Is it a good or a bad thing? I'm not sure.

Today I decided to catch up on some missed episodes of shows I enjoy watching. An episode of Army Wives in particular got me really emotional. A particular character said in so many words, "We've been lucky that we haven't been separated. We live the Army life, and at some point, we all have to go." In a different show a character said, Is Bye a threat? Someone responded, Why would you think that? She responds, because it's so permanent. Goodbyes are so permanent.

Every day we interact with people, and sometimes those interactions turn into amazing friendships. Whether they are close knit, or just acquaintances there's no doubt that we all change each other's lives in some way, shape, or form. The hardest part of friendship, is saying goodbye. But Change is inevitable, and we must do it in order to grow, and prosper.

Army Wives Life: PCS Airline Travel Arrangements and Changes

PCS ing to a new duty station for the first time can be a little overwhelming, and answers to your questions may be hard to come by.   As in my case, Not all of my questions were answered, even through the FRG.

Yesterday I went to the Travel Dept. on Post to finalize our travel arrangements.  Due to our situation, we weren't too sure if the Army would allow us to make changes to our itinerary.  Our PCS orders have us traveling from our current duty station (Schofield Barracks) to our new duty station (Fort Campbell).

Since we have two vehicles, (military only ships one)... and our moving expenses that keep adding up, it was in our best interest to ship the second vehicle only to Oakland rather than to St. Louis (the closest port to Fort Campbell).  Then drive it cross country to our final destination.

I tried to do my research online, but couldn't find anything helpful regarding this.  So I'm here to share some valuable information for families, and soldiers in the same situation.

hint:  This can also apply if you wish to divert to another city to visit family.

GOD Moments: Living the WORD

Very often I have God moments.  A God moment is when I'll think about something, or ask God a question, and he DIRECTLY responds to me. (Click here for a full God Moment Definition)  Non-believers will question me, but it does happen to me.

For example I'll be driving in a car thinking of a specific situation. I converse in the car and pray to God about it, and immediately a car will pull up in front of me, with a scripture sticker on the back of it, with the APPROPRIATE verse that directly answers my question. It gives me comfort in the situation.  TRUE STORY, I kid you not.

OR... like today....

Army Wives Life: Relocating Tips for First PCS

Life as an Army wife can be difficult enough. But try adjusting to a re-location from Schofield, HI to Fort Campbell KY.... lol. It can be quite overwhelming.

Our family is getting ready to PCS for the first time in my husband's Army Career. We've been lucky enough to stay in Hawaii which is my hometown. To make things even better (sarcastically), my husband was sent to Fort Lee for several months prior to us re-locating.

So I am here in Hawaii, he is in VA, and we will meet in TN. Where do I begin to know what I'm doing?

MAACO WOW!

*telephone rings: Time is 5:45 am. I'm not sure if I'm still dreaming. As I float out of dreamland, I subconsciously answer the ringing phone. It's Taylor #1 on the other end. "BABE! I GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT"

"WHAT?" I reply *rubbing the blur out of my eyes. "Are you okay? Call the police"
